VIS Check Kenny Doonan sponsors the HDT Rally and is a wonderful host.  We toured the Doonan shop facilities, mechanical and body.  It is very interesting to see how clean a facility that deals with trucks that operate on the road can be.  This is a side project we saw at the body facility.
VIS Check A VIS (Visual Inspection System) check uses a specially designed machine that shakes and moves chassis components so that things like loose wheel bearings, kingpins, spring shackles, etc. can be observed.

Here is Red Rover on the machine getting checked out.  He was the demonstrator so other Rally attendees could see the benefit of the check.

VIS Check Another part of the VIS check is the testing of brakes.  There is a hydraulic motor that drives the wheels and then the brakes are applied.

The VIS machine measured how fast the brake comes on, how even they apply pressure, and how fast they release.  It is so much more accurate than measuring the brakes by how they feel.
VIS Check Mark is watching the rear suspension being shook by the VIS machine.
