Air-Card Coverage

One of the weaknesses of air-card use is area coverage.  Unlike the  people coverage that AT&T likes to promote, 97% of the people doesn't mean good coverage in the West.
This is the route we took in 2010.  We used this as a baseline for where we would expect wireless coverage for an air-card. Air-Card Coverage
Sprint Coverage On the left is the Sprint coverage plan for 2010.  On the right has our route superimposed on the Sprint coverage.

Sprint has lots of coverage in the East but the West is pretty weak.

AT&T Coverage On the left is the AT&T Wireless coverage plan for 2010.  On the right has our route superimposed on the AT&T Wireless coverage.

AT&T has more coverage in the West but there are still a lot of gaps.

Verizon Coverage On the left is the Verizon wireless coverage for 2010.  On the right has our route superimposed on the Verizon wireless coverage.

There are still gaps in the West but there it was seldom that our route was in a non-coverage area.

As far as we are concerned, Verizon Wireless provides the best coverage for us.
