Clock Thermometer

Last Changed 4/16/2016

Clock Thermometer  A wall clock is a common accessory for a RV.  We wanted one that would use radio signals to keep accurate time.  We are planning on a La Crosse Technology 512B-811 Digital Wall Clock that also has inside/outside temperature readings.  We find the temperature reading handy for making decisions on heating, cooling, and outside protection measures.
The clock on the wall
Here is the clock installed on a wall of the Pantry in Joey

White LED marker light
One of the problems with LCD clock is viewing them in the dark.

Backlit clocks are available but not with large character displays.

We are using a white LED marker light to put some illumination on the clock.
Marker light in door stop
We embedded the LED marker light in a hole in a rubber door stop.  The door stop gave us an tilt towards the clock.

We also put a couple of small strips of tape to cut the light from the clock frame.

Clock's remote temperature sensor in front cap
The remote temperature sensor for the clock works best when it is out of the sun.

We Velcroed the clock's remote sensor to the inside of the front cap of Joey.
Clock's remote temperature sensor in front cap
The clock's remote temperature sensor is mounted just above the front turn signal inside the front cap.

This location turned out not to work. It turned out to be a problem with the model clock we were using.  Different clock and the under-hood location works fine.
