Every one of us has had some people who made a positive change in our futures in words or actions.  Those actions are seldom recognized at the time because it is in the actions of our lives that those take effect.

One of the things I am trying to is to identify those positive influences in my life and go thank the individual who did them.

These positive influencers seldom get any feedback.  This is a shame because the greatest thing we can do in our time on this planet is to make somebody else’s life better.

The reason for our stop in Ozark AL was to thank one of the greatest influencers in my life.  The words and concepts of wisdom happen in the US Army in Viet Nam.  Those effects shaped my successful career in the computer world and what I consider a pretty good life.

That person was Hugh Rhodes.  He was my 390th Detachment Commander in Viet Nam in late 1967 and early 1968.  He was a superior “people” person and an excellent motivator and leader.  Of the many things I learned from Hugh, the significant one was that there can be a greater goal in your life and career than money.

We spent several hours discussing the old days and the current.  His wife Jennie is also s wonderful person, but then I would expect that Hugh would have such a wife.

And Hugh was a hero too.  Read my account of an eventful day when we were on Just a Test Flight.

I would recommend everyone to try and find and thank the influencers of your life.  And do it before they are gone.
