We went to the Civil War Chickamauga Battlefield Museum.
The Museum has an excellent movie depicting the importance of
Chattanooga in the Civil War and why the fatalities were so high in
Chickamauga.
The movie did an excellent job of explaining how both sides viewed the
reasons for the War. |

Unlike the other wars the United States has been involved in,
after the Civil War was over, the participants could meet and
mutually memorialize their efforts.
The Chickamauga Battle field, like many other Civil War battlefields, are dotted with
memorials raised in the places where the numerous state military units were positioned
during the battle. In Chickamauga, there are over 660 such memorials.

Mark, who was in the Viet Nam war, finds it amazing that the
soldiers in the Civil War
could fight the way they did in the reality that most of the soldiers would be
wounded or killed.
A great expense that did give us the Country we have today. |
