Fortress Louisbourg


6/23/2017	Our location - New Harris NS Fortress Louisbourg
We went to the Fortress of Louisbourg, a restored 1744 French Fortress near Sydney NS. Besides the buildings, there were numerous costumed interpreters who described how life was for them at that time.

	From the Visitor Center you take a bus around the inlet to the Fortress.
	Even from the bus, there is a walk into the Fortress to keep modern devices away.

This interpreter described life as a soldier in 1744 including firing his musket.

	We had a meal at the Grandchamp House, a working man's restaurant of beef stew as it would have been served in those days, in pewter bowls with pewter spoons.
	There was a small museum in one of the buildings.
